City of Green Seeks Volunteer Groups to Adopt-A-Spot in Green City Parks

Green, OH – The City of Green is launching Adopt-A-Spot, a new beautification project in Green city parks, this summer.  The City is seeking volunteer groups to serve as Adopt-A-Spot Stewards to plant and care of flowers in their selected Adopt-A-Spot.

Local community groups, families and residents are encouraged to become Adopt-A-Spot Stewards to plant and care for flowers in the chosen park areas.  There are more than 30 safe, minimal traffic, family-friendly sites within our City parks available for adoption in 2018.

The program is simple – each Adopt-A-Spot steward would be responsible to plant flowers in their spot the first week of June.  All flowers and materials will be provided by the City of Green.   Then throughout the summer, the stewards are responsible for weeding, watering and caring for their adopt-a-spot.

“We are looking for volunteer groups or perhaps a few families to help us plant flowers and maintain specific flower beds in our parks this summer,” said Valerie Wax Carr, service director.  “We look to make this an annual program and hope the community embraces this simple, yet valuable program.”

Sites are available at seven City of Green parks.  Signs identifying the adopt-a-spot and the organization or family serving as the Adopt-A-Spot Stewards will be placed at each site.  Sites will be offered on a first-come, first served basis.   To apply, download the application at www.cityofgreen.org/adopt-a-spot.

Registration deadline is May 1.  If you are interested or have questions about participating, please contact the Director of Public Service office at 330-896-4176 or visit the City of Green website at www.cityofgreen.org/adopt-a-spot.
