The City of Green Drug Task Force Presents Operation: Street Smart, an adult drug education, on May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Central Administration Building
Green, OH – The City of Green’s Drug Task Force is hosting Operation: Street Smart, an adult drug educational program for parents, teachers, social workers and others who work with the youth, at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd., at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 8.
Created and presented by the Franklin County Sheriff Office, the goal of the program is to educate adults about the current drug trends, terminology, paraphernalia, concealment techniques and physiological effects on youth to help prevent drug abuse.
Presented in partnership with the Summit County Sheriff Department and Green Local Schools, doors open at 6 p.m. Presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. Adults only.
The City of Green, like many communities, has seen a rise in overdoses over the past several years. In 2016, the City of Green fire division responded to 83 drug overdoses; and 42 and 27 overdoses in 2015 and 2014, respectively. In 2016, Mayor Neugebauer organized a group of volunteers to create the Green Drug Task Force whose mission is to build a strong and healthy community through education, treatment options and prevention of drug abuse.
