Green, OH – The City of Green’s Drug Task Force is hosting a Community Outreach Meeting and FREE Narcan Training on Thursday, February 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd.
The meeting will share neighborhood specific statistics of calls for drug overdoses as well as how Green Fire and the Summit County Sheriff Department and others are working together to combat the drug issue in our own backyard. Following the presentation, Project Dawn through the Summit County Health Department will be conducting a free Narcan training. Free Narcan kits will be given to all who attend the training, while supplies last.
“The purpose of these meetings is to shine a light on the problem of drug abuse and specifically how it is everywhere and crosses socioeconomic boundaries. It is a serious epidemic and Green is not immune,” said Brian Lloyd, Green fire medic, member of the Green Drug Task Force and a presenter of the community outreach program. “Over the past three years, drug overdoses in Green and the region have increased. It’s time to do something about it and that starts with education.”
The presentation will include an update on the opiate epidemic in Summit County and within the City of Green. Crime and response statistics will be shared along with details on how our safety services are managing these issues. In addition, resources and information for families and those impacted by drug abuse will be shared. Representatives from Project Dawn will be conducting the free Narcan training at the end of the program. Reservations are not required for this public meeting.
