Mayor Gerard Neugebauer Commits to Jumping in the 13th Annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump on February 20; Challenges all the Mayors in Summit County to Jump with Him
Green, OH – The City of Green Mayor Gerard Neugebauer is jumping in the 13thAnnual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump on February 20 at 2 p.m. at the Portage Lakes State Park. Mayor Neugebauer is challenging all Summit County mayors to join him by jumping in the lake to raise money for charity.
This year the Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump is raising money for two organizations – Ronald McDonald House of Akron and Camp Quality Ohio.
The Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump, founded by Kelly and Heather Pariso with neighbors Jeff and Debbie Fulkman, has raised just under $1 million for Northeast Ohio charities since its inception in 2004. Last year, more than 700 people jumped in the cold water for charity. This year the Polar Bear Jump will benefit Ronald McDonald House of Akron and Camp Quality Ohio, a local organization that offers hope, support and opportunities for children with cancer and their families year round.
