Growing Green Wetland

The Growing Green Wetland is located on Steese Road, directly in front of the Green Middle School campus.  Constructed during the summer of 2013, the wetland is in its 5th year of being a living, breathing classroom for the Green community.

Wetland Classroom

The city, in collaboration with Green Local Schools, identified the 1.75 acre open space in front of Green Middle School as an ideal site to create a man-made wetland. Designed by Environmental Design Group, the Growing Green Wetland demonstrates a natural approach to improving water quality and storm water management.

Wildlife 2
Waters from this wetland eventually flow to the Nimisila Reservoir, the Tuscarawas River and the Portage Lakes.  Students are making the connection that clean water at the wetland means cleaner water in those larger and precious bodies of water as well.
