City of Green’s Annual FreedomFest, sponsored by 98.1 KDD and Akron Children’s Hospital,
is Filled with Family Fun, Live Music and Fireworks on June 29 at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road
Green, OH –The City of Green’s Annual FreedomFest, sponsored by 98.1 KDD and Akron Children’s Hospital, is Saturday, June 29 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road. The annual event includes family fun, inflatables, live music, food, beer garden, and fireworks on Saturday night at 10:15 p.m. Admission is FREE; however, the City is accepting donations of school supplies to benefit Green Good Neighbors and its back to school drive.
The festival begins Saturday at noon with food, inflatables and family fun, and entertainment throughout the day. Activities include bounce houses and other inflatable activities, zip line, climbing wall, obstacle courses and more are open from noon to 9 p.m. In addition, local businesses will be exhibiting their goods and services, and food will be available for purchase throughout the day.
Saturday’s Entertainment Schedule of Events, held on the Green Auto Mile stage, includes:
- Dr. U.R. Awesome, 12 p.m.
- Rockin’ Robots, 1 p.m.
- Outback Ray, 2 p.m.
- Bingo provided by Greenview Senior Assisted Living, 3 p.m.
- Dianna Durkin Dancers, 4 p.m.
- Theatre 8:15 - Performance at 4:30 p.m.
- MacConmara Dancers, 5 p.m.
- Akron Chapter B.H.S. Chorus, 6 p.m.
- Skydivers at 8:15 p.m., Claire Holdren soloist
- Moving in Stereo, a Cars Tribute Band at 8:30 p.m.
- Fireworks at 10:15 p.m.*
On Saturday, Moving in Stereo, a Cars Tribute Band will perform beginning at 8:30 p.m. Prior to the performance, skydivers* will descend on the park – a crowd favorite – at approximately 8:15 p.m. Green Local Schools’ eighth grader Claire Holdren will sing patriotic songs while the skydivers descend. Fireworks* simulablasted to music on 98.1 KDD will begin at 10:15 p.m.
Free parking for FreedomFest will be available at Boettler Park and at various parking lots along International Parkway. Handicap parking will be available at Boettler Park. No pets or sparklers permitted during the festivities.
*In the event of inclement weather, the City reserves the right to launch fireworks prior to the 10:15 scheduled start. If weather determines the fireworks show should be canceled, the fireworks show will be held Sunday, June 30.
