FreedomFest and Taste of Green is June 27 & 28

City of Green’s Taste of Green and Annual FreedomFest is filled with family fun
on June 27 & 28 at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road

Green, OH –This year the City of Green is combining two great events – Taste of Green and FreedomFest -- into one family fun-filled weekend on June 27 and 28 at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road.

The day and a half festival begins Friday evening at 6 p.m. with the Taste of Green and more than 8 local restaurants and food vendors and a beer garden sponsored by Legends Sports Pub and Grille of Green. Entertainment for Friday night includes family-friendly comedian Matt Jernigan followed by the rockin’ hillbilly blues band Karri Fedore and Kerosene. Other activities on Friday night include a showcase of local businesses and organizations and tethered balloon rides courtesy of RE/MAX. Rides are $5 per person and all funds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Network.

Restaurants participating in Taste of Green this year include Legends Sports Pub & Grille, PaPa Gyros, The West Side Bakery, Green Giant Eagle Market District, The Twisted Olive, The Pierogi Lady, Double Deuce Kettle Corn, and John’s Concessions.

On Saturday, the festivities and Taste of Green food vendors open at noon. Free family fun activities will be available until 8 p.m. including inflatables, mobile gaming, old-fashioned games, contests, paddle boats, NASCAR simulators and more are free for families to enjoy. Entertainment includes Outback Ray’s Amazing Animal Show at 3 p.m. and MacConamara Irish Dancers at 7 p.m. At 8:15 p.m., skydivers will descend on the park followed by music by Escape, a Journey Tribute Band, who will perform from 8:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

The evening will conclude with the City’s annual fireworks display beginning at 10:15 p.m.

Free parking for FreedomFest will be available at Boettler Park and at various parking lots along International Parkway. Handicap parking will be available at Boettler Park. Local businesses and not-for-profits interested in exhibiting at FreedomFest may contact the Parks and Recreation office at 330-896-6621.

In the event of inclement weather, the city reserves the right launch fireworks prior to the 10:15 scheduled start. If weather determines the fireworks show should be canceled, the fireworks show will be held Sunday, June 29.
