The City of Green is cancelling its FreedomFest event at Boettler Park for Friday, June 26 and Saturday June 27 due to inclement weather. The cancellation includes Saturday night’s fireworks as well as the Sunday rain date for fireworks. A similar event with fireworks will be rescheduled later this summer. Date and details of the rescheduled event will be shared in the coming weeks.
"These decisions to cancel events are never taken lightly and we regret having to do so, but the safety of residents, staff and vendors is our first priority," said Mike Elkins, superintendent of parks and recreation. "And while, Friday evening's weather (according to forecast on Thursday) does not look like a wash out, we felt it in the best interest of the community to cancel both days in favor of rescheduling a similar full-day event later in the summer."
