The City of Green’s Drug Task Force is Hosting Several NARCAN Training Sessions in July 2019 at Green Fire Station #1, 4200 Massillon Road

Green, OH – The City of Green’s Drug Task Force is hosting three DAWN (Deaths Avoided With Naloxone) clinics for anyone interested in getting trained on how to administer this life saving drug that reverses an opioid overdose.  The trainings are FREE and attendees will receive a FREE DAWN kit, which includes NARCAN.   All trainings will be held at the Green Fire Station #1, 4200 Massillon Road.

Training Dates:

  • Tuesday, July 9 @ 10:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, July 11 @ 5:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 18 @ 5:30 p.m.

The training sessions are approximately a half-hour in length.  Registration is not required but requested by emailing jchambers@cityofgreen.org.   The DAWN training and NARCAN kits are provided by the Summit County Public Health Department.

“We know that NARCAN saves lives, many who are on their recovery journey, but relapse, which is part of the full recovery process,” said Mayor Gerard Neugebauer. “By hosting these training sessions and making Narcan accessible, we are building a community of first responders united in saving lives. These compassionate first responders can be anyone with Narcan – a mother, a friend, a hotel clerk – who provides the life-saving medication while waiting for EMS to arrive.  If we can save one life, it is worth it.”

The City, with funding Summit County Public Health, is installing NARCAN kits at local hotels for hotel workers to access in the event of an emergency – the first in the state of Ohio to do this.  On July 25, the Green Drug Task Force along with Cover 2 Resources is hosting a FREE concert featuring up-and-coming Country Artist Shane Runion to celebrate our community of first responders united to save lives.  The FREE concert will be at 6:30 p.m. at Central Park, 1755 Town Park Blvd.
