Chris Humphrey is serving his second term as an at-large City Council member. Chris serves in Wealth Management at UBS Financial Services. Previously, Chris was a shareholder in the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs where he served as Vice-President, Treasurer, and as a member of the board of directors. Chris earned his Bachelor's degree in public speaking in 1988, a Master's of Theological Studies in 1990 and a Juris Doctor degree in 1993. Chris and his wife Connie have three children: Josh, Ben and Sarah Grace. Chris also serves as an elder and an adult bible fellowship teacher at Maranatha Bible Church. He is the Chair of the Finance Committee, Vice Chair of the Transportation, Connectivity and Stormwater Committee, and a member of the Public Safety Committee.  He is also serving as City Council president for 2017.

James V. Ahlstrom, II is serving his first term on City Council. James is a business man with a vast background including insurance, various small businesses, and property management. James has served on the Board of Zoning Appeals and has also been an active member of the Green Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, organizing and planning annual fundraising events and creating networking strategies to enhance the city’s business partnerships and economic growth. James enjoys serving in the Sunday morning children’s ministry at his church. James has two children Reagan and Reese. James is the Chair of the Intergovernmental and Utilities Committee, Vice Chair of the Rules and Personnel Committee, and a member of the Planning and Economic Development Commitee.  He is also City Council Vice President for 2017.

Stephen Dyer begins his first year as at-Large Council member.   He is currently the Education Policy Fellow at Innovation Ohio, a Columbus-based think tank, where he fights for the right of all Ohio’s children to receive a world-class education, regardless of where they live. He is a nationally recognized education policy and finance expert and has been published in Education Week – the nation’s education policy newspaper of record, as well as The 74 and Real Clear Education. He recently served as part of an American delegation to observe the Chinese education system in Shanghai and Beijing.    Steve is a Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Akron.  Prior to his current positions, Steve was an award-winning journalist with the Akron Beacon Journal, and served as Green’s award-winning State Representative in the Ohio House of Representatives.  Steve’s work reforming Ohio’s education funding and delivery system earned the Frank Newman Award from the non-partisan Education Commission of the States – recognizing the country’s most “bold, innovative, non-partisan” education reform of 2009. He graduated from Tufts University in Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, earned a Master’s Degree in journalism from Kent State University and a law degree from the University of Akron. He has lived in Green for more than 10 years with his wife Melissa and their two sons, Logan and Carson.  Steve is Chair of the Rules and Personnel Committee, Vice Chair of the Finance Committee, and member of the Transportation, Connectivity and Stormwater Committee.

Ken Knodel was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Ward 3 Councilperson as of December 27, 2011. He is now serving his first full term on Council. A 35+ year resident of Green, he has experience as a small business owner and currently works as an Director for the Fiscal Office at the Services Division of Summit County. Ken is the Chair of the Transportation, Connectivity and Storm Water Committee, Vice Chair of Planning and Economic Development Committee, and a member of the Rules and Personnel Committee.

Justin Speight begins his first term as an at-Large Council Member. Born and raised in Green, Justin graduated from Green High School in 2000 and enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve in 2001. He continues to proudly serve as a Master Sergeant Aircraft Loadmaster with the 910th Airlift Wing at Youngstown Air Reserve Station. Justin has served five combat tours in support of various operations for the Department of Defense and Department of State. His education includes an Associate of Science for Aviation Operations, Bachelor of Arts for Organizational Communication, and Master of Science for Logistics, Trade, and Transportation. He and his wife, Tressa, feel blessed to raise their children, Roman and Emma, in the City of Green. Justin is the Chair of the Parks and Recreation Committee, Vice Chair of the Public Safety Committee, and member of the Intergovernmental and Utilities Committee.

Skip is currently serving his second term as Ward 4 Councilperson. Skip was raised in Bath, Ohio and has been a resident of Green since 2005. He is the president of Regency, Inc., an office furniture company. Skip holds a bachelor's of business administration-finance degree from the University of Akron. He is married to Susan and they have five children and seven grandchildren. On Council, Skip serves as the Chair of the Safety Committee, Vice Chair of the Environmental & Parks Committee, and a member of the Finance Committee. 


Bob YoungBob Young - Ward 2

Bob Young is serving his first term on City Council. He was born and raised in Green. Bob and his wife Tina met at Green High School. They have three young children Bobby, Abby and Katy. Bob is self-employed as an Auctioneer and specializes in auctioning all types of personal property. Bob has been a successful business owner in different varieties since 2001. Bob is the Chair of the Planning and Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Intergovernment and Utilties Committee and a member of the Environmental & Parks Committee.


Clerk of Council
Council appoints the Clerk of Council who serves at the pleasure of Council. The Clerk of Council shall keep the Journal of Council, an accurate and complete record of all proceedings of Council (authenticated by the Clerk's signature), have custody of all laws, ordinances, and resolutions of Council, have custody of all official documents, reports, papers, and files of Council, and performs other such duties as required by Council.

Molly has worked for the City of Green since 1993, first as the Law Director's Secretary and now as the Clerk of Council. Molly has an associate's degree in Office Administration Technology from Stark State College and is a licensed Notary. In July 2008 Molly became one of only 25 clerks in the State of Ohio to become a Master Municipal Clerk. She is an active member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerk's Association, the Ohio Municipal Clerk's Association where she currently holds the position of President and is also a member of the Tri-County Clerk's Association.
