Chris Humphrey is serving his second term as an at-large City Council member. Chris serves in Wealth Management at UBS Financial Services. Previously, Chris was a shareholder in the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs where he served as Vice-President, Treasurer, and as a member of the board of directors. Chris earned his Bachelor's degree in public speaking in 1988, a Master's of Theological Studies in 1990 and a Juris Doctor degree in 1993. Chris and his wife Connie have three children: Josh, Ben and Sarah Grace. Chris also serves as an elder and an adult bible fellowship teacher at Maranatha Bible Church. He is the Chair of the Finance Committee, Vice Chair of the Rules and Personnel Committee, and a member of the Public Safety Committee.  He is also serving as City Council president for 2018.

Bob Young is serving his second term on City Council. He was born and raised in Green. Bob and his wife Tina met at Green High School. They have three young children Bobby, Abby and Katy. Bob is self-employed as an Auctioneer and specializes in auctioning all types of personal property. Bob has been a successful business owner in different varieties since 2001. "Please don't hesitate to contact me with all your concerns and/or ideas." Bob is the Chair of the Planning and Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Intergovernment and Utilties Committee and a member of the Rules and Personnel Committee. He is also serving as City Council vice president for 2018.

Barb Babbitt is serving her first term on City Council.  A sixth generation resident of Green, Barb graduated from Dennison University in 1992 and Northwestern University School of law in 1996. Upon graduation from law school, Barb served as a judiical attorney in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and then as an assistant prosecutor in the civil division of the Summit County Prosceutor's Office.  Barb currently operates a residential real estate business in Green and actively volunteers in the community.  She and her husband Craig have three children: Will, Teddy and Caroline.  Barb is the Chair of the Public Safety Committee, Vice Chair of the Environmental and Parks Committee, and a member of the Finance Commitee.

Stephen Dyer begins his first year as at-Large Council member.   He is currently the Education Policy Fellow at Innovation Ohio, a Columbus-based think tank, where he fights for the right of all Ohio’s children to receive a world-class education, regardless of where they live. He is a nationally recognized education policy and finance expert and has been published in Education Week – the nation’s education policy newspaper of record, as well as The 74 and Real Clear Education. He recently served as part of an American delegation to observe the Chinese education system in Shanghai and Beijing.    Steve is a Senior Lecturer in English at the University of Akron.  Prior to his current positions, Steve was an award-winning journalist with the Akron Beacon Journal, and served as Green’s award-winning State Representative in the Ohio House of Representatives.  Steve’s work reforming Ohio’s education funding and delivery system earned the Frank Newman Award from the non-partisan Education Commission of the States – recognizing the country’s most “bold, innovative, non-partisan” education reform of 2009. He graduated from Tufts University in Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s Degree in English, earned a Master’s Degree in journalism from Kent State University and a law degree from the University of Akron. He has lived in Green for more than 10 years with his wife Melissa and their two sons, Logan and Carson.  Steve is Chair of the Intergovernmental & Utilities Committee, Vice Chair of the Transportation, Connectivity and Stormwater Committee, and a member of the Environmental and Parks Committee.

Matthew Shaughnessy begins his first term on Green City Council. Matt works as a "Crime Victim's Attorney" advocating for the rights of Crime Victims under the Ohio Crime Victim Fund and helps victims of domestic violence obtain orders of protection.   Matt began his lifelong pursuit of public service as a Cleveland Police Officer in 1989, then quickly accepted a position on the Fairview Park Fire Department and served as a Firefighter/paramedic for 18 years.  Matt worked at The university of Akron in its Capital Planning Department, while attending law school at night.  Matt has lived in Green for twelve years, is married to Cindy Hulse, and has three sons and two step daughters.   Matt is Chair of the Rules and Personnel Committee, Vice Chair of the Public safety Committee, and a member of the Intergovernmental and Utilities Committee.

Justin Speight begins his first term as an at-Large Council Member. Born and raised in Green, Justin graduated from Green High School in 2000 and enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve in 2001. He continues to proudly serve as a Master Sergeant Aircraft Loadmaster with the 910th Airlift Wing at Youngstown Air Reserve Station. Justin has served five combat tours in support of various operations for the Department of Defense and Department of State. His education includes an Associate of Science for Aviation Operations, Bachelor of Arts for Organizational Communication, and Master of Science for Logistics, Trade, and Transportation. He and his wife, Tressa, feel blessed to raise their children, Roman and Emma, in the City of Green. Justin is the Chair of the Environmental and Parks Committee, Vice Chair of the Planning and Economic Development Committee, and member of the Transportation, Connectivity and Stormwater Committee.

Rocco is serving his first term on Council, representing Ward 3.  He is a partner in the law firm of Young & Yeargin, where he helps people with estate planning, elder law, small business formation, and consumer law matters.  Rocco graduated from Hiram College with a Bachelor’s degree in English in 1993, before earning a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 1996.  Rocco and his wife Melinda have three children, Schuyler, Caitlin, and Bella. Rocco is the Chair of the Transportation, Connectivity and Stormwater Committee, Vice Chair of the Finance Committee, and member of the Planning and Economic Development Committee.

 

Clerk of Council
Council appoints the Clerk of Council who serves at the pleasure of Council. The Clerk of Council shall keep the Journal of Council, an accurate and complete record of all proceedings of Council (authenticated by the Clerk's signature), have custody of all laws, ordinances, and resolutions of Council, have custody of all official documents, reports, papers, and files of Council, and performs other such duties as required by Council.

Molly has worked for the City of Green since 1993, first as the Law Director's Secretary and now as the Clerk of Council. Molly has an associate's degree in Office Administration Technology from Stark State College and is a licensed Notary. In July 2008 Molly became one of only 25 clerks in the State of Ohio to become a Master Municipal Clerk. She is an active member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerk's Association, the Ohio Municipal Clerk's Association where she currently holds the position of President and is also a member of the Tri-County Clerk's Association.
