City of Green Requests Input on Adding a Curbside Leaf Pickup

Green, OH – The City of Green is currently requesting resident input regarding if the City should add curbside leaf pickup to the existing trash collection contract in 2018.   Currently, Kimble Companies, the City’s trash aggregator, picks up bagged leaves curbside; however, these leaves are sent to the landfill, not recycled.   The City maintains that the best way to dispose of leaves is to mulch them in place with a mulching mower or adding leaves to flowering beds and plantings.

If the City decides to add a curbside leaf pickup program, residents would be required to bags their leaves in brown compostable bags, which would then be picked up and composted.

Please share your comments and feedback on Curbside Leaf Pickup by completing the City’s leaf survey at www.cityofgreen.org/leafsurvey.  The survey will be available until November 5.
