City of Green’s Third Annual Property Beautification Contest Applications Due May 21;
GREEN, OH – The City of Green in partnership with Hoffman’s Garden Center is hosting its third annual property beautification contest for residents and businesses in Green. As part of the city’s new commitment to “Living” Green, the residential categories focus on beautiful and environmentally wise landscaping.
Two winners will be awarded in the four residential categories of hardscape with landscaping, greenscapes, edible landscaping and water feature with landscaping. In addition strong consideration will be given to residents who focus on the curb appeal of their properties and the use of energy efficient materials and methods of irrigation.
To be eligible, the property must be in Green and constructed prior to December 31, 2010. Interested residents should complete an application with two photos of the area to be landscaped and return it to the Central Administration Building by 4:00 PM on May 21. Complete details and applications are available on the City’s website (click here) or at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd.
Winners in the residential categories will receive an award in the amount of $125 to be donated on their behalf to Green Good Neighbors. One business will be awarded the Mayor’s Award for outstanding efforts to beautify the City of Green.
Work may begin at any time after the application has been submitted. Properties will be judged the week of July 16, 2012 by members of the City’s Design Review Board.
“This year our winners will be ‘Living Green’ not just through good stewardship of their environment, but in giving back to our community. Green Good Neighbors has been a vital resource in our community for more than 50 years and we are excited about this opportunity to support them,” said Sarah Haring, community development administrator and organizer of the Property Beautification Contest for 2012.
