City of Green Teams with AMATS to host Bike-N-Brainstorm on August 18

Green, OH – On August 18, 2018, the City of Green will partner with AMATS (Akron Metropolitan Transportation Study) to host “Bike-N-Brainstorm” which includes a bike ride and brainstorming session to receive feedback on improving biking in the City of Green. Led by Paul Ciocca, City of Green Engineering Department, the bike ride will begin from Boettler Park at 9 am and ride a 7.2-mile designated loop route to Central Park finishing at Boettler Park.

“Providing a bike and pedestrian trail from Central Park to Boettler Park has been identified as a high priority connection for Green residents,” said Wayne Wiethe, Director of Planning.  “The Bike-N-Brainstorm event gives us an opportunity to “test drive” this route and get feedback in a way that just doesn’t happen in a typical public meeting setting.”

The August 18 Bike-N-Brainstorm event coincides with the city’s popular Art-A-Palooza event, which takes place at Boettler Park giving participants an opportunity to take advantage of both events.  Registration for Bike-N-Brainstorm begins at 8:30 am at Boettler Park.

The Akron Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (AMATS) developed Bike-N-Brainstorm in 2012 to serve as a tool for public outreach by engaging bicyclists in a chosen bike route to improve biking conditions in a local community. More than 450 bicyclists have participated in twelve Bike-N-Brainstorm events from 2012-2018.  AMATS continues to partner with local communities to encourage safe and viable bicycle infrastructure as an active transportation option.
