Green’s Medical Director Dr. Ross Campensa Honored as Ohio EMS Medical Director of the Year
GREEN, OH – The City of Green Fire Division’s Medical Director Dr. Ross Campensa received the 2023 EMS Medical Director of the Year award presented by Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services, and the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Medical Services.
Honored at a May 24 ceremony among his peers, Dr. Campensa was honored with an EMS Star of Life Award as EMS Medical Director of the Year for the State of Ohio. The award criteria include serving as a medical director for an Ohio-based EMS provider and making significant contributions to the development and advancement of EMS at the local, regional, state or national levels through prehospital studies, EMS research and pilot programs.
“Dr. Campensa has been our medical director for 32 years and has consistently shown a fierce dedication to keeping our department on the leading edge,” Said Chief Funai. “Doctor Campensa is driven by research and committed to evidence-based protocols. His efforts over the years in terms of policy, practice and protocol have consistently kept our department at the top end of service for our citizens.”
Under Dr. Campensa’s leadership and training, Green Fire continuously works to improve EMS protocols and procedures to provide the highest level of emergency service. Dr. Campensa is an emergency medicine specialist with more than 37 years of experience. He is affiliated with Aultman Orrville Hospital and is a 1986 graduate of Northeastern Ohio Universities/College of Medicine. Dr. Campensa resides in New Franklin with his wife Denise and his mother-in-law. He has two stepdaughters and three grandchildren.
