Christopher J. Meager "C.J." is serving his first term on City Council. CJ is serving as the 2023 Council Vice President. CJ is the Chair of the Finance Committee, Vice-Chair of the Public Safety Committee, and a member of the Rules and Personnel Committee.
CJ also served on the City’s 2019 Charter Review Commission.
Education
C.J. is a City of Green native and 2005 graduate of Green High School. Following high school, CJ attended Muskingum University and University of Nebraska, where, in addition to his normal course work, he conducted research at a state-run forensic hospital as part of the University’s Research Experience for Undergraduates. CJ ultimately graduated, summa cum laude, from Muskingum University in 2009 with a double major in psychology and criminal justice and a minor in sociology. CJ graduated from the University of Akron School of Law in 2012. While in law school, CJ was the Director of the Inmate Assistance Program, law clerk for the Appellate Review Office, assistant editor of the Constitutional Law Journal and captain of his moot court team.
Employment
CJ is a member at the law firm of Brennan, Manna & Diamond, in Canton, Ohio, where he specializes in corporate, business, real estate, government and public law, and civil litigation matters.
Accomplishments
CJ has been recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers as a 2020, 2021 & 2022 Rising Star. Rising Stars are selected by their peers as the top up-and-coming attorneys who are under the age of 40 or have been practicing for 10 years or less. Only 2.5% of the attorneys in Ohio are named to the Rising Stars list each year.
Service to the Community
In addition to his professional responsibilities, CJ co-founded and is the current president of the Green Professionals Association (GPA), a non-profit organization dedicated to giving back to the Green community. GPA hosts it annual Turkey Trot to raise money for college scholarships for Green High School seniors. To date, GPA has awarded over $30,000 in college scholarships to former Green High School students. CJ also currently serves on the boards for the Akron Bar Foundation.
Family
CJ lives in Ward 2 with his wife, Ashtin and their labradoodle, Winston.
