Adopt-A-Spot

City of Green Adopt a Spot

In 2018, the City of Green implemented a new beautification effort in our public areas, with an emphasis on the City’s parks. We are excited to announce the Adopt-a-Spot program designed to enhance specific areas within the Green parks system will continue in 2023. Local groups, families and residents are encouraged to become Adopt-A-Spot Stewards to plant and care for flowers in the chosen park areas. 2023 Program Information (PDF)

How the Program Works

The City would purchase flowers for the given site. The stewards would be responsible to plant, water and weed the site through the growing season (Approximately June through September).

Locations

The City has selected safe, low traffic, family-friendly sites within our parks for planting. The City has identified approximately 30 planting areas.

Adopt-A-Spot available sites:

  • Ariss Park - 1 site
  • Boettler Park - 6 sites
  • Central Park - 9 sites
  • East Liberty Park - 2 sites
  • Greensburg Park - 4 sites
  • Kreighbaum Park -1 site
  • Spring Hill Park - 1 site
  • Torok Community Park - 6 sites

Volunteering Perks

The steward group will gain the opportunity to bond with each other, perhaps learn a new skill; and participate in an environmental activity to improve the community. Steward groups can be a family, a club, a sports team, a civic group, just to name a few. Best of all, the care of these flower sites will bring color and beauty to our park system for others to enjoy. Each steward group will be recognized with a sign at their planting site.

Planting Dates

Flower pick-up and planting of the sites will take place from June 3 – June 11. A kick-off meeting will be held Wednesday, May 17 at 6 pm. at the Central Park Community Hall located at 1755 Town Park Blvd. to discuss best planting practices, provide site locations and Q&A.

To be part of this community partnership program, please register by May 1, 2023.
