Where will it be located?

The park is slated for the area behind Fire Station #1 on Steese Road and part of the current Community Park located there.  The walking track currently there will be rerouted to accommodate the new Veterans Memorial.

 

When will it be dedicated?

Phase one of the park will be dedicated on Veterans Day 2010 -- November 11, 2010.   The ceremony will begin at 11:11 a.m., followed by a reception at the Family Life Center at Queen of Heaven Church.  Parking for the event will be behind fire station no. 1, the John Torok Community/Senior Center and Queen of Heaven Church. 

 

How will it be funded?

Green City Council has granted through legislation the park fund $50,000 to begin the design phase of the project.   The overall park is estimated to cost $200,000 to build.   The remainder will be paid for by the generosity of individuals, businesses and community organizations who wish to donate to the building of the park.   To find out how to make a donation, click here.

 

How may I make a cash donation?

Check should be made out to the Veterans Memorial Park Fund and may be sent to the City of Green, c/o Veterans Memorial Park Fund, P.O. Box 278, Green, OH 44232.  For a donation form, please click here.

 

How do I purchase a paver?

Pavers will be available to purchase once the design is finalized.   If you are interested in purchasing a paver, please fill out the pledge formand check the box for pavers.  We will notify you once the pavers are available for purchase.

 

Can I still purchase a paver for the park?

Yes; however, they will not be installed for the dedication on November 11.  Pavers are for sale in the Parks and Recreation office or download a form here.   All pavers purchased before March 31, 2011 will be installed before Memorial Day.  

 

How do I volunteer to help the committee?

Interested in volunteering in anyway, please email Mike Elkins at melkins@cityofgreen.org or Valerie Wolford at communications@cityofgreen.org to express your interest and how you wish to help out.
