Trash Collection/Sanitation Services
On November 23, 2010 City Council approved a 5-year contract with J&J Refuse to serve as the City of Green's trash aggregation service. J&J Refuse service began on January 3, 2011.
To sign up for service, please contact J&J Refuse at 1-800-201-0005, Monday - Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or Saturday from 7:0 a.m. - Noon, or customerservice@jandjrefuse.com.
The following service options are available:
Full Cart Service with Recycling $10.24/month or $30.72/quarter
Limited Cart Service with Recycling $8.74/month or $26.22/quarter
30-Gallon Bag Service with Recycling $1.90/bag (pre-purchased bags)
Holiday Schedule
J&J refuse does not operate on the following Holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on a weekday, service for that day and the rest of the week will be delayed by one day. (If a holiday falls on a Saturday or a Sunday pick-up will not be delayed).
White Goods Pick-Up
There is a special collection the third week in May of each year to recycle white goods (refrigerators, stoves, scrap metal, etc). Please contact J&J Refuse for details.
Christmas Tree Pick-Up
There is a special collection two (2) Saturdays in January of each year to recycle live Christmas Trees. Please contact J&J Refuse for details.
Refuse /Recycle Collection Guidelines
- Weekly collection service DOES NOT include construction or demolition debris, tires, batteries, automotive/truck parts, paint, oil fluorescent bulbs, gas cans, hazardous/infectious waste, flammable liquids, and any waste prohibited from disposal in a municipal solid waste landfill. (Call Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority for information on disposal of these items: 330-374-0383 or SASWMA web-site link).
- Please have refuse and recyclables at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled pick-up day. Items such as swing sets, carpet, tree limbs, gutter and down spouts must be cut into 36 inches or less, bundled, weigh less than 50 lbs. and placed at the curbside on a regular pick-up day.
- Leaves and yard waste will also be picked up with the trash, however, residents are encouraged to recycle leaf and yard waste through the City of Green's Recycle Center located at 5383 Massillon Road (City Recycle web-site link). This reduces the amount of material being disposed of in the landfill, and also provides material for the City's free mulch program provided to residents.
- Co-mingled recyclables (#1-#7 plastics, glass, jar/bottles, aluminum cans, bi-metal cans) must be placed in your 18-gallon bin, and your fiber (newspaper, magazines, telephone books, and cardboard) should be tied and bundled, or placed in a brown paper bag, and set on top of or next to your recycling bin.
