Recycling

Being "green" is easier than ever in Green from curbside recycling to the City's recycling center to other recycling locations for aluminum cans or paper, prescription medicine recycling and hazardous waste.   If you have questions about the Recycling Center, please contact our Service Department at 330.896.4176.  


City of Green's Recycling Center

Location:  Highway Office, 5383 Massillon Road. Please use the rear entrance off International Parkway.

Accepts: 

  • Yard waste (brush, branches, leaves, etc.)
  • Aluminum Cans
  • Scrap metal
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Glass
  • Plastic containers (#1 through #7)

2012 Hours of Operation:

January 1 - March 17
Monday - Friday 12:00 p.m. - 5 p.m.

March 18 - November 3
Monday - Friday 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. 
Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

November 3 - December 31
Monday - Friday 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 
Saturdays (through Dec. 8) 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Recycle Center CLOSED on all Government Holidays

Please note: this service is open to residents of Green only. You must present your drivers license showing your address in Green to use the recycle center.

Alternative Aluminum Can Recycling Location
Fire Station #1
(located in parking lot behind the station at 1900 Steese Road) accepts aluminum cans only.
Aluminum can recycling containers are also located in the parking lot behind the Green Administration Building, 1900 Steese Road. Green Fire administers the program, and proceeds from the sale of cans are donated to the burn unit at Akron Children's Hospital.

Household Hazardous Waste Recycling

The City of Green does not accept any household hazardous waste.  These materials may be recycled through the Summit/Akron Solid Waste Management Authority.  For locations,acceptable materials and hours, please click here.
