Greens first
public recreational park was dedicated on November 22, 1997. The park
consists of 63 acres and is host to many youth activities inluding the
Green soccer association, Green High School tennis, and Green youth lacrosse.
Recreation and fitness enthusiasts can take advantage of the 1.2 mile
asphalt walking trail that winds through a grassy meadow and around the
newly renovated pond.
Young and old fisherman can take advantage of a stocked pond. No fishing
license is required. Residents are encouraged to throw back the small
ones.
Tennis
and basketball are also popular activities at Boettler Park. From April
through October the four tennis courts and one basketball court are available from dusk to dawn.
Picnicking has become a favorite activity for families at Boettler Park.
The 2,400 square foot pavilion is a popular place to host family reunions,

Boettler
Park is home to the historic 1885 Lichtenwalter one room schoolhouse.
With the support of the City of Green and numerous non-profit donors as
well as resident donors, the restoration of this one hundred nineteen year old structure
would have never happened. The building is currently used by the Green
Local School system and its elementary school classes. The Historic Preservation
Commission works closely with Green schools in developing the curriculum
to be used for these elementary school classes.
Boettler
Park also boasts the award winning "Heritage Hill Playground."
This 30,000 square foot playground was built by more than 400 community
volunteers. The cost of the structures, over $100,000, was raised through
community donations and foundation grants. In 2004, the playground won
a category 5 award for the "best new recreation facility" in
the state of Ohio. Heritage Hill playground is visited by thousands of
children annually.
