The City of Green is proud of its parks and the many opportunities the division of parks and recreation provides for the residents of our community. With more than 524 acres of diverse park land, providing active and passive recreation opportunities for all residents, it is clear to see why the parks are one of our greatest assets and are valued as a means of enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
We offer 5 pavilions available for seasonal rentals and the John Torok Community & Senior Center for parties and small gatherings.
Our parks staff maintains 44 recreation fields and courts for community adult and youth sports leagues. There are more than 6 miles of trails at Southgate Park and Boettler Park and an additional six miles of a hike and bike lane on Christman Road near Nimisila Reservoir. The parks adn recreation staff is currently working with local boy scouts earning eagle merit badges to extend a trail through East Liberty Park beginning on Charleston Drive to Liberty Green.
The parks maintenance staff also maintains the city's three cemeteries, all buildings and grounds owned by the city, roadside mowing, and adopt-a-site maintenance. In addition, the Parks and Recreation Division offers programs for seniors, adults and youth and organizes special events such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Memorial Day parade, FreedomFest, Trick or Treat Trail and Christmas in the Park among others. We partner with other organizations to bring to the community Kids Day, Art-a-Palooza, fall hay wagon rides, fishing derby's and more!
Our staff works with seven locally run youth sport organizations and Green Local Schools to ensure safe, secure areas for play for all participants.
Thank you for visiting our parks!
