Ninth Annual art-A-palooza is August 24 at Boettler Park

Green, OH – The Green Arts Council and the City of Green’s Parks and Recreation Division will host its ninth annual art-A-palooza, aart exhibit fine arts show, at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road, on Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the event is free. The event is sponsored in part by DeHoff Realtors, Summa Health System, DRB Systems and First Energy Foundation.

Sixty-eight artists from around the Mid-west United States will display their art for sale from a variety of mediums including painting, fiber, ceramics, glass, photography, jewelry, outdoor garden art, and more.

“This is the largest number of artists ever at art-A-palooza,” said Joan Smith, owner of Gallery 143 and a board member for the Green Arts Council. “This year there are more than a dozen new artists to the show.”

Per the requirements to exhibit, all artists must submit artwork for approval by the art-A-palooza committee and must agree to be on site and available to answer questions from attendees about his/her craft and art.

Other activities

A Children’s Activity tent will offer several free make and take crafts for children. The activity tent will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to kids’ activities, there will be live entertainment performing from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. including musicians Lisa McDaniel, Danny Milan, Patrick White, Dennis Kempthrone and Tim Darnell.

Food vendors will include Giant Eagle, John’s Concessions, Stew Pot Kitchen, the Pierogi Lady, Island Delight, and Kettle Korn offering a variety of lunch and snack lunch options.

And finally, in the Green Arts Council tent, the organization will be conducting a raffle of more than 60 donated art pieces from the various exhibitors to benefit its scholarship fund. Raffle tickets are one for $1, six for $5 and 15 for $10.

The Green Arts Council formed in 2003 to promote participation in and appreciation of the arts in the City of Green. The group offers art classes, scholarships to Green graduates pursuing art in college and events such as art-A-palooza. For more information or to become a member, visit
