Recycling Benefits the Greater Good in Green

In March of 2015, the City extended the Kimble Companies trash and recycling contract for residential recycling.  With the renewed contract, residents received rollable recycling totes that are picked up every other week.   In addition, Kimble agreed to give cash back to the community based on recycling volume increase year over year.

In 2015 (March 2015 - Dec. 2015), Kimble collected 1359.98 tons of recycling -- a 26% increase over 2014 recycling numbers -- and qualifying the City for a rebate of $1.50 per ton or $2,039.97.

Currently City Council is reviewing legislation to permit the City to solicit grant applications from Green not-for-profits for up to 1/2 of these funds annually.  The remaining funds will then be authorized to continue recycling promotion and living green initatives.   Once this legislation is approved, the City will issue the grant application form.
