to Benefit the Green Veterans Park and the First Responders Monument

Green, OH – The City of Green is hosting an Honor Our Heroes Poker Run on Sunday, Poker RunJune 4 to benefit the Green Veterans Memorial Park and the First Responders Monument.   The Poker Run will begin at the Central Park Community Hall, 1755 Town Park Blvd, with breakfast and registration from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  

First bike out will be at 10 a.m. to begin the 102-mile ride with multiple stops at various veterans and first responder monuments in the region.  The final poker stop will be at the Green Veterans Memorial Park, 1900 Steese Road.   The ride will conclude at Legend’s Bar and Grill, 1840 Town Park Blvd. with last bike in at 3:30 p.m.

Registration is $15/rider with a free commemorative pin to the first 100 registrations plus breakfast and lunch. 

Not a rider? No problem, the community is welcome to attend the breakfast from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Central Park Community Hall.  Parking for cars will be available at the Green Memorial Stadium parking lot.   Donations will be accepted for breakfast. 

All proceeds will benefit the Veterans Park and the First Responders Monument.

The City has launched a $125,000 fundraising campaign to complete the final phases of the Green Veterans Memorial Park in 2017.  The final two elements to be completed are the First Responders Monument to honor our everyday heroes and the second Stories of Service Grove Walkway.   

To date just under $40,000 has been raised for the park.   Upcoming fundraisers planned include the Valor Ball on July 8 at MAPS Air Museum and dining out at Chipotle on June 5.  In addition, t-shirts are being sold at each of the events by the Green Fire Women’s Auxiliary Group to benefit the park.   Memorial pavers are also being sold to raise funds for the final phase.  For complete details and updates on fundraising activities, visit http://www.cityofgreen.org/veteran-park-fundraising-events.
