about Green’s Heritage Home Program on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m.
Green, OH – The City of Green is pleased to partner with the Cleveland Restoration Society’s Heritage Home Program to offer free technical advice and low interest loans to homeowners in Green looking to make renovations and repairs to their older home. The City of Green is one of only three cities in Summit County to offer the Heritage Home Program to its residents.
The City and the Green Historical Society are hosting an informational meeting on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd to share more about the Heritage Home Program.
Through the Cleveland Restoration Society, the Heritage Home Program offers free technical assistance and advice to homeowners whose homes are more than 40 years old. An employee of the Cleveland Restoration Society will come evaluate any home that qualifies and offer suggestions on which repairs should be made.
“While Green has a limited number of truly historic homes, in terms of architecture and age, our housing stock is beginning to age. Surprisingly, more than 40 percent of homes in Green older than 40,” said Sarah Haring, community development administrator with the City of Green. “We want residents to understand that this program is geared for all homes in Green more than 40 years of age whether they are historic in the true sense or not.”
In addition to the evaluations offered free of charge, the Heritage Home Program also offers low interest loans through KeyBank. The interest rate on these loans is a fixed rate of 2.0 percent for up to 10 years. Loans are available for interior as well as exterior repairs, maintenance, additions, and modernizations. The Heritage Home Loan Program is based on the equity in the home. An After-Rehabilitation Loan product is also available. There are no out-of-pocket costs for the loan, no closing cost and no points. Interest paid from the loan is also tax deductible.
