Green’s Heritage Hill Playground at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road, will be closed Sunday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for maintenance work performed by Ohio Army National Guard
Green, OH – This Sunday, April 28 Heritage Hill Playground in Boettler Park will be closed for maintenance from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Members of the Ohio Army National Guard stationed at the Akron-Canton Airport is providing community service to the City of Green and will be completing several maintenance projects at the playground. Boettler Park is open on Sunday and the small playground facility located near the soccer fields will be open.
Sixty to 75 servicemen and women will be performing maintenance at Heritage Hill playground including seal coating the wooden play structure and fence as well as other minor spring cleaning. The City estimates more than 400 man hours will be donated by the Ohio Army National Guard.
“We are so pleased the Ohio Army National Guard selected the City of Green to complete their service project this year,” said Mike Elkins, superintendent of parks and recreation. “The work they can get done in one day really helps our maintenance staff prepare the parks for the summer by freeing up their time to focus on other maintenance projects.”
Heritage Hill Playground was built by community members and opened in 1999. It remains one of the top features in our park system.
