Vince Matlock

Vince Matlock

Vince is a Master Gardener volunteer from the Ohio State University Extension Summit County, Ohio class of 2007.  Before taking up gardening full time, Vince spent 36 years in the field of information technology.

In 2010 he completed the Master Gardener Specialization Backyard and Local Foods course and was a participant in the Summit Urban Farming Initiative.  In 2010 he started Rainbow Gardens LLC, a small vegetable farm.  Rainbow Gardens is a regular vendor at the City of Green’s farmers market. This year he has plans to expand his produce sales to a second farmers market

Raised on a small farm, Vince has had a lifelong interest in growing and harvesting produce. For the last 15 years, the vegetable and fruits grown on his half acre in Green has been enjoyed by his family, friends, and co-workers. Almost every year his wife warns that the garden is getting too big!

Vince is on the board of directors of the Master Gardener of Summit County, Ohio State University Extension, and has served for two years as the chairperson of the Master Gardeners Tour of Gardens’ Grant program.

Vince will be speaking about raised bed gardening.  This is the technique that has made Rainbow Gardens so successful and is an efficient gardening technique that works in large or limited spaces!
