Green Parks and Recreation Offers Tennis Lessons, Sporties for Shorties and Archery for Youth

Green’s Parks and Recreation Division offering Group Tennis Lessons;

Sporties for Shorties; and Archery this Spring for Children

GREEN, OH – Green’s Parks and Recreation Division is offering a variety of new youth sports lessons this spring for children including group tennis lessons, sporties for shorties, and Archery. 

Tennis.   In conjunction with Midwest Team Tennis, the City if offering group tennis lessons on Tuesday night from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for grades 1 – 3 and at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for grades 4 – 6 at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road, beginning June 12 through July 31.    Cost is $60 per student and includes an age appropriate tennis racquet, ball, one year subscription to Bounce or Smash Magazine and other fun tennis items.   Register directly with Midwest Team Tennis at www.midwestteamtennis.com

Sporties for Shorties is a program designed to introduce a variety of sports to kids ages 4 to 6.   Each week a different sport will be introduced including soccer, football, basketball, tee-ball and hockey.   Two hour-long sessions beginning at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. will be held on Saturday mornings from May 5 through June 2 at the Green Primary School, 2300 Graybill Road.   Cost for resident is $25 and for non-resident is $35.    Matt Kress, recreation program coordinator for the City of Green, will be the instructor.

Addition Classes For Youth Archery Added in Early Summer

Additional sessions of youth archery will be held in Southgate Park, 5300 Massillon Road, on Wednesday evenings from May 2 through May 23 or June 6 through 27.   The program, for kids ages 8 to 15 years old, will teach participants archery safety, how to shoot recurve and compound bows, how to set-up an archery range and more.   Classes will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for 8 to 11 year olds and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for 12 to 15 year olds.  Equipment will be provided, however, students are welcome to bring their own bow.   Cost is $25 per resident and $30 per non-resident.
