Will the road be closed?

Some short term road closures will occur at various times and points throughout the project on Arlington and SR 619. The contractor must provide a five day notice of closure to allow for communication to the public. These closures will be limited to Friday at 9 p.m. to Monday at 6 a.m.

One extended road closure will be at Moore Road at Arlington during the first stage of construction. The posted detour will be Arlington Road to SR 619 West to Cottage Road North to Moore Road.

What properties have been demolished?

To date, nine properties have been demolished including 3472, 3478, 3492, 3498, 3503, 3510, & 3516 S. Arlington Road as well as 861 and 877 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road.

Are there any remaining properties to be demolished?

In February, 3525 S. Arlington (City Laundry) will be demolished and the gas pumps and tanks at 3540 S. Arlington (Speedway) will be removed.   The Speedway building and the building located on the northwest corner of Arlington are not scheduled to be torn down.  Future development of these parcels is planned.

When will construction begin?

Construction will begin in March 2010.

How much Federal funds vs. local funds are being used for this project?

The total cost of the project is $7.5 million. Of which, $2 million is from the Federal Stimulus Funds; $4.9 million in Federal funds ($1.1 million from Safety funds); and $600,000 of local funds.
