City of Green’s Annual FreedomFest is filled with family fun
on June 24 & 25 at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road
Green, OH –The City of Green’s annual community event, FreedomFest is Friday, June 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, June 25 from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Boettler Park, 5300 Massillon Road. Fireworks are scheduled for approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. Admission is FREE. The City is collecting donations of school supplies to benefit Green Good Neighbors and its back to school drive.
The festival begins Friday evening at 6 p.m. with food vendors and live music performed by Cleghorn, an America’s Celtic rock band at 6:30 p.m. along with the MacConmara Irish Dancers.
On Saturday, family-fun activities begin at 12 p.m. and will close at 8 p.m. Activities include bounce houses and other inflatable activities, zip line, climbing wall, laser maze, farm yard playland, NASCAR simulators and more. In addition, local businesses will be exhibiting their goods and services, and food will be available for purchase throughout the day.
At 5 p.m., the City is pleased to host MAPS Air Museum’s annual MAPS Legacy Awards, which honor museum volunteers who have served distinguished military careers. MAPS will also be displaying several vehicles at FreedomFest on Saturday.
On Saturday, live musical performances will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Cleghorn, along with the MacConmara Irish Dancers, followed by One, a U2 tribute band, at 8:30 p.m. Prior to the 8:15 p.m. performance, skydivers* will descend on the park – a crowd favorite. Fireworks* will begin at 10:15 p.m.
Free parking for FreedomFest will be available at Boettler Park and at various parking lots along International Parkway. Handicap parking will be available at Boettler Park. Local businesses and not-for-profits interested in exhibiting at FreedomFest may contact the Parks and Recreation office at 330-896-6621 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Fee to exhibit is $125.
*In the event of inclement weather, the city reserves the right to launch fireworks prior to the 10:15 scheduled start. If weather determines the fireworks show should be canceled, the fireworks show will be held Sunday, June 26.
