The Highway Division oversees the maintenance of approximately 250 miles of roadway in the City, including the state routes. An excellent crew of dedicated full-time operators are constantly maintaining or upgrading the quality of our roads, mowing and trimming trees/brush atthe road's edge, not to mention ice and snow removal during the winter season.

Construction & Road Opening
A Road Opening/Driveway Permit must be obtained in the name of the property owner through the Highway Division Office:

1. Prior to issuance of a Zoning Permit for construction of a new home or building, that will require construction of a new driveway access to a road with roadside ditches.
2. Prior to initiating any type of construction, excavation or driveway apron paving within the road right-of way.


Road Opening/Driveway Permit
A Road Opening/Driveway Permit must be obtained in the name of the property owner through the Highway Division Office. This permit must be obtained prior to issuance of a Zoning Permit for construction of a new home or building that will require construction of a new driveway access to a road with roadside ditches. Contact the Highway Division for additional information and requirements.

Prior to initiating any type of construction within the road right-of-way, contact the Highway Division Office. A road opening permit must be obtained prior to initiating construction, excavation, or driveway apron paving within the road right-of-way. The Highway Division Office is located at 5383 Massillon Road, telephone 330-896-6607.
