The Planning & Zoning Commission is
responsible for planning the orderly growth and development of the City. This
Commission reviews commercial and industrial site plans, subdivision
preliminary plans, signage requests, and conditional use requests. The
Planning & Zoning Commission also makes recommendations to City Council
concerning any items which require legislative action including requests for
rezoning, amendments to the zoning code, subdivision final plats, and a long
range plan for the City’s growth and development.
The Planning & Zoning Commission consists of five (5) members appointed
for staggered terms of five (5) years. These members are appointed by the
Mayor and approved by a two-thirds vote of Council. The Director of Planning
and the Chairman of the Planning Committee of Council serve as non-voting
members of the Planning & Zoning Commission.
Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month beginning at 6:30pm in
Council Chambers, 1900 Steese
Road.
