Commission Member Group Photo 2008
The Historic Preservation
Commission was created to preserve those elements which reflect the Citys
cultural, social, economic, educational, political or architectural heritage
and so safeguard the distinctive character of the City. The Commission
concerns itself with properties of historical significance which include
but are not limited to cemeteries, birthplaces or graves of historical
figures, reconstructed historical buildings, properties that have achieved
significance within the last fifty years and religious properties significant
for their architecture or secular history.
Members of this Commission are appointed by the Mayor (2) and Council
(3) and serve either one, two or three year terms. All members must demonstrate
a special interest, experience or knowledge in history, architecture or
related disciplines.
Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at
1900 Steese Road. To confirm meeting location contact the City of Green Planning Department at (330) 896-6614.
