There are several major engineering projects this construction season.
Caston Road will be resurfaced and widened to include six-foot hike and bike lanes on both sides of the roadway from Arlington Road to Main Street. This will add another two miles of hike/bike lanes to our city.
Caston Road Resurfacing and Widening with Hike/Bike Lanes
Year two of this two-year project begins in March. In 2010, the intersection of Arlington Road and SR 619 was widened. This year Arlington Road will be widened from Liberty Green Drive to I-77; Jarvis Road will be rerouted to Arlington Ridge Drive; and the intersection of Moore Road and Arlington will be widened. This project has been completed. On September 19, resurfacing of three parks of Arlington Road south of September Drive will begin. For the first three weeks, a section of Arlington from Greesburg Road to just north of Killinger Road will be closed for culvert work. The remainder of the project is expected to be completed by the end of October. For more information on this resurfacing and road closure detour information, click here. On October 7, the road was reopened to traffic. The project is expected to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.
To provide access to the new Akron General Health and Wellness Center being built to the east of Massillon Road at Town Park Boulevard, Town Park will be extended approximately 1/4 mile east.
