Welcome
We
welcome you to the City of Green! The City of Green is strategically
located in Northeast Ohio about midway between the City of Akron and the
City of Canton and is bisected by Interstate 77. Geographically, Green
is the second largest municipality in Summit County with 33.5 square miles
and according to the 2000 United States Census a total population of 22,817
persons. Green is a relatively young city, and because of our prominent
location, we continue to experience robust commercial development and
steady population growth.
The City (former Green Township) is the only political jurisdiction in
Summit County that has the exact same political boundaries as the original
plat depicted. In 1992, the City incorporated and also adopted a charter,
which forms the basis for todays Mayor-Council form of government.
City Council consists of seven members: four members are elected as ward
councilmen and three are elected at-large. The Mayor is the administrative
head of the City, serves as the Safety Director, and is responsible for
enforcement of the laws, resolutions, and ordinances as legislatively
approved by City Council.
The Mayor can be reached by email or by calling (330) 896-6602.
