Green, OH – The City of Green through the support of the City’s Living Green Task Force is selling composters and hosting a FREE Composting Workshop on Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. in City Council Chambers.
The composting bins are on sale, while supplies last, at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd., Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The 80-gallon composting bins are $30 each and proof of residency required. The bins will be on display at the Celebration of Education on February 27 at Green High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The FREE composting workshop, Keep Calm and Compost On, taught by Green residents Master Gardener Vince Matlock and Landscape Architect Kyle Lukes, will teach the basics of backyard composting. All in attendance will be entered into a raffle to win a free composter. Registration is requested by calling 330-896-6614 or emailing email@example.com. The workshop will be recorded and posted on the City’s website for those who are unable to attend.
It is estimated that a typical household throws away approximately 474 pounds of food every year making food scraps the third largest segment of the waste stream. (Source: Ohio EPA) The recycling numbers in the City of Green are steadily improving and we want to continue that healthy trend by learning to recycle food and other organics.
