City of Green Partners with Cleveland Restoration Society to
Offer the Heritage Home Program, which provides low-interest loans
and/or restoration consulting for restoration of homes built before 1961
GREEN, OH - The City of Green is pleased to announce it is partnering with the Cleveland Restoration Society (CRS) to introduce, the Heritage Home Program, a specialized maintenance program for homes that are 50 years of age and older.
The program, which is administered by the nonprofit CRS and supported by the Ohio Housing Finance Agency and the State Treasurer, provides low-interest financing and free technical advice to enable homeowners in participating cities to maintain and update their historic buildings. This program is now available to all owners of older homes throughout the City of Green.
The professional Heritage Home Program staff will provide free, in-depth assistance to homeowners via site visits to answer questions, custom construction specifications, project planning assistance, historic color consults, collateral materials and more. They give unbiased advice on products and services for older homes, so you can give them a call for a first look or a second opinion. CRS's preservation staff has made over 2,500 home visits in participating cities over the past nineteen years, and they are now excited to offer their services in Green.
Homeowners can also apply for the low-interest Heritage Home Loan, which is at a below-market, fixed-rate, to fund a wide variety of home maintenance, restoration and improvement projects. Houses built before 1961, are owner occupied or 1-3-rental units, and retain much of their original architectural characteristics, are eligible to apply. Examples of qualifying projects are roof replacement and repair, painting, porch repair, sensitive additions, window repair, storm windows, kitchen and bath renovations, green retrofits and much more. KeyBank is the sole partner lender for this program. There are no upfront, out of pocket cost for the Heritage Home loan ─ a small CRS technical assistance fee and the Bank's $125 origination fee are included in the final loan amount ─ and there are no closing costs or points involved. In addition, the accrued interest from the loan is tax deductible.
