GREEN, OH – Artist Ron Beahn created the original painting, A New Beginning, for the City of Green’s incorporation 20 years ago and he is doing it again for the City’s 20th Anniversary. Mayor Dick Norton is pleased to announce the City of Green has commissioned Green artist Ron Beahn to create a painting to commemorate the City’s 20th anniversary.

In 1991, posters were distributed as a giveaway during a day-long event to celebrate the inauguration of the first city council and mayor for Green. The 20th anniversary painting will also be made into a poster. All proceeds from the sale of the poster will benefit the City of Green’s Friends of Parks Program. Posters will be available for purchase by Memorial Day 2012.

“We have so many talented artists in Green, but Ron’s link to our incorporation made him the right choice to create a 20th anniversary painting,” said Mayor Norton. “An original work of art is a great way to memorialize our anniversary and I look forward to unveiling it to the community this spring.”

Ron Beahn, a Green resident for more than 20 years, began studying watercolor painting in 1980. He currently markets his work at his gallery, Ron Beahn’s Custom Framing in Cuyahoga Falls, and by exhibiting in several nationally recognized shows in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. He is also the current director of the Boston Mills Artfest and the Canton National, the previous director of the Ann Arbor National Spring Art Show, the Ann Arbor National Fall Art Show and the Castle Farms Fine Art Show in Charlevoix, Michigan.

Beahn’s original artwork will be unveiled on April 5, the anniversary of the City’s incorporation, at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd. at 2 p.m. The original 1991 “A New Beginning” artwork is currently on display in the Central Administration Building’s lobby.

Through the year, the City will commemorate its 20th anniversary at all its special events with a grand 20th anniversary celebration at FreedomFest on June 22 and 23.
