Christmas-at-Town Park is December 6

City of Green’s Annual Christmas-at-Town Park Holiday Event is Saturday, December 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd.; Third Annual Rudolph Fun Run Begins at 4 p.m.

Green, OH – The City of Green’s annual Christmas-at-Town Park Holiday Event is Saturday, December 6 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the third annual Rudolph Run beginning at 4 p.m.Happy Holidays

Stepping off just after 4 p.m. is the third annual Rudolph Run, a ½ mile fun run/walk, which begins in the parking lot of the Central Administration Building into the Green Memorial Stadium for a lap around the track.   Families and individuals are encouraged to dress-up in Christmas costumes for the run/walk.  Family and individual prizes will be awarded in the following categories: best theme costume, most creative, bah humbug costume, ugly sweater,  and spirit of Christmas costumes.  The run/walk is free; however, registration is required.   Register online at

In addition to the fun run, family activities including make-and-take crafts, story time, holiday music, and donuts and hot cocoa will be available in the Central Administration Building.   At 5 p.m., there will be a community sing-along followed by the arrival of Santa at 5:30 p.m.  Santa and Mayor Dick Norton will flip the switch to light the holiday decorations on Town Park followed by fireworks*.   

Following these activities, Santa will meet with children in Council Chambers of the Central Administration Building.  Admission is a donation of a non-perishable food item or personal care item for the City’s Green Gives Back food drive, which benefits Green Good Neighbors.

New this year, the City is encouraging residents to participate in Blitzen Bingo in the days preceding Christmas-at-Town Park.  The Blitzen Bingo boards, available to download on the City’s website or pick one up at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd. Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. featuring 18 local businesses along the Massillon Road corridor.   Those interested in playing should download a board (two boards available; each board features nine area businesses), and then visit the various businesses between November 26 through December 6 to receive a stamp on your board.  Once the entire board is complete, turn it in at the City of Green’s Christmas-at-Town Park event on Dec. 6 or the Central Administration Building Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., to be entered to win door prizes.    Each participant in Blitzen Bingo may only submit one of each of the two boards available.   Purchase is not necessary at any of the businesses to receive a stamp on the bingo board.   Door prize winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. at Christmas-at-Town Park event.  Winner does not need to be present.   

“The idea for Blizten Bingo was two-fold – to encourage residents to visit and shop at Green’s businesses this holiday season and to create a fun activity leading up to our annual Christmas-at-Town Park event,” said Mike Elkins, superintendent of Green Parks and Recreation. “We hope families enjoy completing the bingo cards.”

Businesses participating in Blitzen Bingo include: Green Dairy Queen, Legends Sports Pub and Grille, The West Side Bakery, Best Cuts, Green Library, Pizza Hut, Akron General Health and Wellness Center, Gallery 143, Gerri’s Closet, Romeo’s Pizza, Merle Norman Cosmetics, Hungry Howies, 1st Class Nails, Brubaker’s Pub, Great Clips, Menche’s Brothers, Starbucks at Heritage Crossing, The District, and Giant Eagle Market District.
