The City of Green Parks & Recreation Division is proud to partner with the Green Arts Council in offering new cultural arts programming. Some of the programs include felting, jewelry making, juggling, origami , and much more! Please see each class description for age appropriate programs.
All classes will be held at Green High School(1474 Boettler Road). Please enter through the Main Entrance and turn right for the arts hallway. The classes and their room numbers will be marked on the day of class! Introduction to Juggling
Saturdays, March 9 & 16 (choose one, or both)
10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Cost: $8.00 for one class, $15.00 for both
Ages: 11 & up
Instructor: Gerard Neugebauer
Begin to juggle and learn basic three-ball patterns in this beginning class. Juggling is a fun source of exercise that improves hand-eye coordination and timing. This class is appropriate for anybody who is in the 5th grade or older, including adults. Juggling bags can be purchased from the instructor, if desired.

This class focuses on designing and setting up designs for use on sheet metal, using a jewelers saw, metallurgy, metal drilling, metal texturing, shaping, filing, and finishing/polishing. Students will complete one pair of earrings during class with sterling French hooks and copper.

Pysanky, an ancient folk art of the Ukraine and Eastern Europe, uses a multi-step process of applying beeswax and dyes to an eggshell. Beeswax is melted and designs drawn on a raw egg, using a specialized writing tool called a kistka. As the egg is placed in a succession of dyes from lightest to darkest, wax covers the entire egg. When the wax is melted, a beautiful multicolor pattern is revealed.

This is a fun and loosely run painting class for ages 5 and up. Use your creativity to create a switchplate for your bedroom or as a gift! The instructor will assist with design ideas if needed! Even if you have no art experience this is a fun place to start! All supplies provided.

Students will create one sterling silver ring using cold connection techniques. Students can bring their own bench pin & clamp, jewelers saw & 0/4 blades, steel ring mandrel, steel jewelers block, riveting hammer, files, and parallel pliers or use tools provided by the instructor. Students can contact instructor for help purchasing tools before March 8th.

Zentangle is an easy way to learn a relaxing method of creating beautiful images from structured patterns. Zentangle is an intuitive art form which increases creativity and focus. It is enjoyed by people of all ages with a wide range of skills. If you think you can’t draw, you are in for an amazing surprise!

These fun little beads are worked in Peyote Stitch, and take just 15 or 20 minutes apiece to make. Bead several and string them up on Stretchy cord for a fabulous bracelet. Depending on the colors you choose, your bracelet can be anything from casual, to flirty, to elegant. You’ll learn a lot about combining beads from playing with different shapes and sizes of seed beads, so have fun!
Skill level: Beginner. We will be working with small beads, so make sure to bring reading glasses or “cheaters” if you need them.
Supply List
Size 10 beading needle
C-Lon or Nymo size B or D thread and thread conditioner
A foot of heavy stretch cord
Seed Beads - You'll need several (5 to 9 or so) different colored and sized seeds beads. The more variation in size and shape you use, the more interesting your Crazy Beads will be. So look through your collection and choose triangles, round seed beads, cubes, cylinder beads, short bugles, drops, even 4mm and 6mm beads can work. You just need a small amount (5 to 20 or so) of each color/shape to make a Crazy Bead. You’ll need 5 to 7 Crazy Beads to make a bracelet.
Spacer beads - you’ll also need 5 to 7 8mm beads and 10 to 14 4mm beads to make a bracelet.

This is a beginners/intermediate class. Prior experience with clay/ceramics is beneficial but not required. The class will start with hand building techniques, a simple but fundamental process, and then proceed to throwing on the wheel. The quantity of finished forms will be based on the progress of the student and the time restraints of the class. Intermediate students may proceed with more advanced forms within the scope of the class projects. This class is for any high school aged individuals and adults. Learn Basic and advanced chord progression and melody lines, as well as picking and strumming techniques. Beginning, intermediate and advanced students will find new ideas for making music. Students must provide their own acoustic guitar.
The ninth annual art-A-palooza fine arts festival is Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Boettler Park; hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Join us for entertainment, food, fun, raffle, chalk art contest, and, of course, purchasing art.
