Vectren Source is now Direct Energy Source. All correspondance will now be under the name Direct Energy Source. All terms and rates of the City's agreement will not change. The May 2012 Gas aggregation rate is $2.987/Mcf for Green's Direct Energy Source (formerly Vectren Source) variable rate customers.

Vectren Source won a competitive bidding process and will remain our natural gas supplier. Our natural gas program will begin with gas flow on your first meter read that occurs on or after April 1, 2012.

Based on input received over the past two years, we have modified our program going forward. Our offer with Vectren Source affords our residents the ability to choose the type of pricing individual customers prefer. This gives you the ability to set a fixed rate when you think prices are attractive while still getting the benefit of the community's bulk buying power.

Details of Green's 2012 Gas Aggregation Plan

1. Green's program will begin with variable pricing that will change each month and follow the trend of wholesale natural gas prices as determined by the New York Mercantile Exchange. We will continue with a variable rate because we believe most residents like to know their options just prior to winter arriving. We anticipate most residents wanting to convert to a fixed rate are likely to exercise that option next September/October when gas suppliers tend to aggressively seek your business.

2. In the new program, members will also have the option at any time during the program to convert their monthly variable rate to a fixed rate price for a twelve month period, or through the expiration of the Program, whichever occurs first. Any customer wanting to convert to a fixed rate must contact Vectren Source at 1-866-200-5419. If elected by the Customer, the fixed rate offered to the Customer will be a stable price per MCF which will be equal to a 8% discount off the standard Vectren Source fixed rate offer shown on the PUCO's Apples to Apples Price Comparison Chart at the time the customer makes the decision to convert.

3. Early termination fees are common in most natural gas contracts and in other service contracts a resident might enter. In our program, if you remain on variable pricing and decide you would like to leave Green's program at a later date, Vectren Source will not charge you an early termination fee. However, if you do decide to convert to the fixed rate option and subsequently decide to leave the Green program or revert back to a variable rate before the expiration of your fixed price period, Vectren Source may charge you an early termination fee of $25. Vectren Source charges the fee to those prematurely terminating a fixed rate contract, because they must buy gas in advance for an extended period of time and often take a considerable loss when contracts are prematurely terminated.

Frequently Asked Questions about Gas Aggregation.

Electric: First Energy Solutions is once again able to offer eligible residents in Green a discount on the electric generation portion of the bill. Effective July 1, 2009 through May of 2012, you are guaranteed to save 6% off your price to compare. You do not need to do anything to particpate. Opt out forms have been mailed out. City of Green businesses will receive a 4% discount for the same time period as residents. If you have any questions, please call First Energy Solutions at 1-866-636-3749.
