Kettlebell Fitness Class

Experience one of the most popular and effective fitness tools of all time: the kettlebell.  What looks like a cannonball with a handle is probably the best piece of fitness equipment you’ve never used!  Mark Burnett, Russian Kettlebell Challenge Instructor, will put you through a series of challenging and exciting workouts.  All the equipment is provided, so you will not need to go out and purchase your own bell!  This 8 week class will meet on Wednesday evenings from 7:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. starting June 13, 2012.  The final class will be held on August 8, 2012.  All classes will be held at the Freda Hunter Bates Pavilion at Boettler Park (the pavilion next to the playground).  The cost of the class is $40.00 for residents and $48.00 for non-residents.  You must pre-register for this class.  You can register online at www.cityofgreen.org or in the Parks & Recreation office, 1755 Town Park Boulevard.  If you have any questions, please call 330-896-6621 for more information.


Knit for the Needy

Throughout 2012, the City of Green Parks & Recreation will be hosting Knit for the Needy making afghans and other "warm items" for those in need. This program is free and open to all who want to attend. The programs will be held at the John Torok Community and Senior Center, 4224 Massillon Road, on the first Thursday of every month, from 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m., starting in February. Yarn will be provided, however, participants will need to bring their own knitting needles and/or crochet hooks. Members are encouraged to make any items that they would like (gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, blankets, etc.). Patterns for various items will also be provided.

Please bring a covered dish if you would like to eat! All the materials that are produced will be donated to the Green Good Neighbors. Registration is required for this program. If you cannot attend during this time frame, the City of Green will still gladly take any donations of completed warm items and/or yarn. Donations can be dropped off at the Parks & Recreation office,1755 Town Park Boulevard. Adult Zumba & Tone It Up Day & Time Changes:

Beginning, Monday, April 30, Zumba will be from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Green Primary School; Tone It Up will be on Wednesdays from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. beginning Wednesday, May 2, 2012.  Both Zumba and Tone-It-Up will continue through Wednesday, May 23, 2012.  

Let's ZUMBA!! Zumba Fitness has become one of the fastest growing, dance-based crazes in the country, with people of all ages falling in love with its infectious music, easy-to-follow dance steps and body beautifying benefits!

Toning class entails toning the upper and lower body including stretching and strengthening. Please bring hand weights (up to 5 lbs.) and a mat or beach towel. Resistance bands will be available to borrow or purchase. Cost of this class is $40 for ten visits, which may be intermingle with the Zumba Fitness classes; the instructor is Andrea Ball. Please enter the After Hours Community Entrance, Door #5. To register, please click the Parks tab, then register, and search for Tone It Up. (This class may continue after the Spring Break which is the first week of April.).


Adult Co-Ed Volleyball OPEN GYM

Adult Co-Ed Volleyball will take place on Monday evenings from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Green High School Auxiliary Gym. Open gym Volleyball will begin Monday, September 26, 2011 and will run through Monday, May 28, 2012.  To purchase a season pass, click the Parks & Recreation tab, then click register, search for the Co-Ed Volleyball program.  Cost is $25 for residents; $30 for Non-Residents.  Drop-in options are also available.  Drop-in fees are $1 for residents and $3 for non-residents. (You must sign in each night.)  Please enter Door #7 on the southwest side of the High School building (from the main parking lot). 

 

Family Pickleball OPEN COURT / OPEN GYM


Please join the City of Green Parks and Recreation Division for Open Court Pickleball. Indoor Open Gym Pickleball is set to begin Friday, September 23, 2011 and will run through Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Green Primary School. To purchase a season pass, click the Parks & Recreation tab, then click register, search for the Pickleball program. Cost is $30 for residents; $35 for Non-Residents. Drop-in options are also available. Drop-in fees are $2 for residents and $4 for non-residents. (You must sign in each night.) Please enter through the back doors of the Primary School. Please call the City of Green Parks and Recreation Office at 330-896-6621 for more details.

Men's Competitive Basketball League

The City of Green Parks & Recreation Division is now accepting registrations for our Sunday Night Men's Competitive Basketball League.  Team sign-ups are on a first come, first serve basis.  The cost for teams entering the league is set at $350 for resident teams; $375 for non-resident teams; plus $10 per player after 8 roster players. For more information, please contact Ray Kent at rkent@cityofgreen.org.  The league is planned to start Sunday, November 13, 2011, but may be adjusted until league is filled.
